These are just some of our amazing K9s
K-9 Shylo is a 7 Year old Sable, German Shepard and is one of our operational K9s. She has been with South Central PA Search and Rescue for 7 years and was in training as soon as she joined the team. She weighs 75 pounds and enjoys her play time when she is not training. She is trained to do Scent work, trail and tracking. She has attended several Public Relation events and Educational events during the past seven years. K9 Shilo completed, and received her certificate of training from the INTBI, (Inter-National Bloodhound Training Institute) Man trailing Seminar, 27 – 29 Sep 2019. K9 Shylo is also CGC Certified. K9 Shylo has been to several of the teams call outs over the last seven years. K9 Shylo continues to train and works at several PR Events as well. Shylo was formerly partnered with Jimi Timmer. Chief Timmer is now her new team member and has been working with her for nearly two years.
K-9 Charlotte is a dual-certified search and rescue dog She is certified in trailing and human remains detection Charlotte has completed her canine good citizen and is also a member of the precious paws therapy dog program. Charlotte is completed her certifications through Pennsylvania search and rescue council and the national association of Search and Rescue otherwise known as nasar. Charlotte has attended many seminars throughout the United States and is also enlisted in a program through CUE which is the center for missing and exploited children based out of North Carolina. Charlotte has also been listed as one of the top three search and rescue dogs in the United States through a nomination through American humane hero dog awards in 2019.
K9 Jules is a 5yr old German Shepherd mix and is one of our operational trailing K9s. She has been with South Central PA Search and Rescue since November 2019. When she is not training she enjoy supervising her neighborhood and handler while he is working in his garden. She has trained with instructors from INBTI(International Bloodhound Training Institute) and NAPWDA(North American Police Work Dog Association).
K9 Puck, is a six year old, black sable, long coat, working line German shepherd. He is trained and works as a non-scent specific, area search air scent K9. When he is not working as a Search and Rescue he is, as his handler Laurie states, “first and foremost a beloved family member, who lives with his handler.” His sister, K9 Mali and a few other pet dogs share his home with his humans.
K9 Puck is a medium drive K9 that was intended to do K9 sports, however, his drive was higher and once introduced to Search and Rescue work he found his knitch. This work matches his drive and desire and he is always ready to work when needed.
K9 Puck has his AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and is working toward a therapy dog certification. He is trained in competition obedience and competes in dock diving. Being a K9 partner runs in Puck’s family, as Puck’s father was his handler’s previous partner, Var. He has been a member of the team for three years.
K-9 Cerberus is the newest member of the team. He is going to be trained as and Air Scent / HRD K-9. This young up coming K-9 is part of teh Puck and Mali family and is a fast learning K-9.
K9 Mali is an ten year old, dark sable, stock coat working line German Shepherd dog. She is working as a scent specific tracking & trailing dog. She is a very high drive and high energy dog who is on a second career doing search and rescue. Her retirement from sport did not suit her. She has a drive that is only answered by working the trail and training with the K9 team. Mali has actually earned her AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen).
K9 Mali is a titled competition dog and still does competition obedience and agility.
Above all else Mali is a beloved family member, she who will work for food, a ball or a play tug, praise is always part of the equation. So far Mali has done very well at everything asked of her except sitting still. K9 Mali has been a member on the team for two years. K9 Mali active with PR Events and will attend more PR Events as she ages and slows down a little, is that even a thing for working line GSDs?
K-9 Honor is three years old and has been a member of the team since she was a puppy. She comes from a working line of K-9 and is a quick learn. She is a certified therapy dog, and is in training for Area Search, (Scent). She has been to several public relation events and on Wednesdays, you can read a book to her at the Collinsville Library. K9 Honor has earned her CGC. She continues to train and attend PR events.
K-9 Bear has come to the team as a puppy and is now two. He is being trained to work HRD. K9 Bear picked this line of work during his first training weekend during the first Training Summitt. He is very active witht eh team and attends PR events with his handler. His Handler stays busy with K9 Jules as well.
K-9 Pride came to us as a new member to the Team. She comes from a working line of K-9 and has the drive and desire it takes to be team. She is performing as a Public Relations K9 for the team.
K-9 Unity came to us as a new member to the Team. She comes from a working line of K-9 and has the drive and desire it takes to be team. Unity is currently 5 months old as of 5 March. She is beginning her training for Public Relations and will be working on her Canine Good Citizen Certification. She will continue her training for Search and Rescue.
